Battery System
The majority, and all critical equipment, within the Baycom buildings is powered from a -48 vdc float charged battery system. The required system voltages are derived from DC to DC converters of various voltages and capacities all derived from the battery system.

The batteries are maintained in a charged condition with a Lorain 30 amp float charger fed from a separately fused 208 vac circuit originating from the commercial building 3 phase power distribution system.

The battery system is comprised of 24 C&D Power System 3KC-5 lead calcium cells. Each cell weighs 122 lb. for a total battery weight of 4600 lb..

The system capacity is >880 ampere hours @ 48 vdc with a typical 8 amp operational current drain.
